The Center School Board of Trustees Member

The Center School is a private, nonprofit state accredited school dedicated to serving students with diverse learning needs

through individualized instruction, therapeutic supports, and a nurturing environment. With a rich history dating back to

1971 of advocacy and excellence in special education, we empower each student to reach their fullest potential—

academically, socially, and emotionally.

We Are Seeking:

Engaged and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees with strong connections to the community to help

broaden the organization's reach and support. As stewards of our mission, Trustees provide strategic guidance, fiduciary

oversight, and community advocacy to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of our school.

Role & Responsibilities:

 Provide strategic leadership and support in fulfilling the school’s mission and long-term goals.

 Ensure financial stewardship, including budget approval, fundraising, and oversight of audits.

 Participate actively in board meetings, committees, and annual evaluations.

 Support the Executive Director of the school in major decisions, performance reviews, and organizational

development.

 Serve as ambassadors for the school in the community—expanding awareness, support, and partnerships.

 Help maintain compliance with state and nonprofit governance standards.

Ideal Qualifications:

 Passion for special education and a commitment to inclusive learning.

 Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valued:

o Education, Special Education, or School Administration

o Finance, Accounting, or Law

o Fundraising/Development or Marketing/Social Networking

o Healthcare, Therapy, or Social Services

o Nonprofit Governance or Strategic Planning

o Civic Leadership, Corporate, Professional & Technical Careers

 Prior board experience is welcome but not required.

 Ability to commit to monthly meetings and actively participate in board functions.
